Harald Walkate, Chicago Booth alum (and former chair of the Ivy Circle), is a sustainable finance consultant but moonlights as jazz pianist and composer – on February 7 he is releasing his seventh album with his group The New York Second with which he has generated nearly 2.5 million Spotify streams. Of their previous album, critics said: “Fantastic” (Jazz Journal), “Indispensable” (Paris Move), “Absolutely captivating 20/20” (Musik an Sich) and “A masterpiece of European jazz ★★★★★” (JazzPort). It was named the best jazz album of 2025 by Canadian publication Textura.
On this new album, “Café Madrid”, the interplay between the piano and vibraphone is central, and features the renowned American vibraphonist Rob Waring.
