2019 highlights and appreciation

Dear Ivy Circle Members, Partners and Friends,

As always at this lovely but hectic time of year, I wanted to share warm holiday greetings, a few brief highlights, and appreciation for your having been part of – and engaged with – the Ivy Circle this year.

2019 was another active year for a diverse range of Ivy Circle events. The Education Fairs this fall were well attended despite worrying declines in international student applications to the US generally, with 35 participating schools at Amsterdam College Night and 15 top B-schools at the MBA Fair.

Alongside thought-provoking events such as Succeeding in The Gig Economy and the Harvard Club- hosted book launch of ‘Too Small To Fail’, we’ve had some great hands-on workshops, ranging from Social Media skills to ‘Designing Your Life.’ Behind-the-scenes cultural events were also very popular, such as a visit to the PAN Art Fair with the Yale Club, UNSEEN with Wharton’s Marsha Plotnitsky, ‘The Making of Il Barbiere di Seviglia’ and finally a private rehearsal of The Nutcracker Suite at Het Nationale Ballet to end the year with a bit of holiday magic. Many thanks to the member clubs who organized the events; to the partners who hosted; and to everyone who took part.

There are lots of interesting happenings already in the works for next year. For a full overview please keep an eye on the newsletter, the Ivy Circle website , our Facebook page, our LinkedIn group, and the Annual Reports. We’d love to hear your news, as well!

Finally, I wanted to share some Board news. Ana Garcia has taken over the Communication reins from Jan Kobussen and has been busy (with help from John and Marjolein) updating the newsletter, website and social media. We are grateful to Jan for his efforts in the communications role.

On behalf of the Ivy Circle Board, I wish you and yours all things warm and bright for the holidays, safe travels, and a happy, healthy, peaceful New Year.

Looking forward to seeing you in 2020,

    Hollis Kurman

    Chairperson, Ivy Circle Netherlands
